2010 Preparations to Begin in September
Updated: 08/26/2009 at 11:40 AM
White Plains, NY -- With the historic (and very wet) 2009 season now in the books (drying off) -- the WRWBL League Office will begin preparations for the 2010 season in mid-September. The commissioner, committee members, trustees and managers have all earned some time off but will be back at it in the fall.
WRWBL.com took a look at some of the items that will certainly be on their 'to do' list:
Budget Forecast -- As with each season the commissioner will present a plan to the league's trustees that includes the forecasted budget as prepared by the treasurer, as well as what fees will be for 2010.
Franchise Review -- Each returning club will meet with the commissioner to discuss their future with the league. Upon completion of those discussions the commissioner will make his recommendation to the trustees regarding league size and if expansion or removing an existing club is necessary.
Expansion Opportunities -- The WRWBL is always looking to invite well-run and competitive teams to join its ranks. Should a team meet the requirements, the league is open to discussions with new clubs particularly in geographic areas where it has not traditionally been before including the Long Island Sound communities or lower Putnam County.
Website Upgrades -- The recent GameCast test has presented the league with a wonderful opportunity, however it also raises issues on how to better use WRWBL.com as a tool to make things easier for managers.
Election of New Committees -- In keeping with the belief that all teams must participate, the league will once again re-configure its committees with new heads for rules, scheduling, all-star game and website to be elected this offseason.
While we encourage everyone to re-charge their batteries after a long season -- we also recommend you check back in the fall as this laundry list of items gets addressed for the 2010 season. Opening Day 2010 is just 260 days away!
